Bespoke Media & Feature Walls in Birmingham

Real stone and hardwood, lit from within — around the TV and fireplace, up the stairs, or anywhere a wall deserves attention. Designed around your room and built by our own team.

A media wall turns the TV from a black rectangle on the wall into the centrepiece of the room. A feature wall does the same for a hallway, a staircase, a bedroom or a kitchen island. Either way we design and build it to fit your space, with the stone, the lighting and everything built into it planned together.

Nothing is off the shelf. Every wall is designed and priced after a free survey, with media and feature walls starting from £3,000. The final price depends on size, stone and lighting.

Why ours are different

Real stone veneer, lit from within

Real stone, not printed panels

Most media walls are clad in printed MDF or PVC "stone effect" boards. Ours use real stone veneer — genuine slate and quartzite split thin — so every wall has its own natural texture and colour.

Bonded to last

The stone is bonded with epoxy rather than tacked on, so it stays put.

Lighting designed in, not stuck on

Backlit alcoves, niches and lit areas are planned with the build from day one, so the light falls where it should and the fittings stay hidden.

Fully bespoke

What we can build in

There is no standard wall. Pick what your room needs and we design the wall around it.

The structure

A stud or batten frame built out from your existing wall to the depth the design needs.

TV recess & hidden cabling

A recess sized to your TV, with cables run inside the wall and a socket or AV box tucked behind.

Electric fires

Letterbox and inset electric fires built into the wall, with the surround finished to match.

Backlit alcoves & shelving

Alcoves and display niches lit from behind so the stone glows, with floating shelves in solid oak or stone.

Feature walls anywhere

The same backlit stone on a hallway, staircase, bedroom wall or kitchen island — no TV required.

Full wall or feature panel

Stone across the whole wall, or a single feature panel set into a plastered or painted surround.

Lighting control

Dimmable warm white, colour-changing, or smart control from your phone or voice assistant.

Stone & hardwood together

Real stone paired with hardwood shelves, hearths, frames and slatted panels, made in our Birmingham workshop.

Media & feature wall FAQs

Media & feature walls in Birmingham, answered

Is it real stone?

Yes. We use real stone veneer: genuine slate and quartzite split into thin sheets, not printed boards or plastic panels. Every sheet is natural, so the colour and texture vary just as they would on a quarried stone wall.

Why stone veneer instead of stone tiles or slabs?

Because it is a thin layer of real stone, it is light and slightly flexible, so it goes where tiles and slabs cannot: across a built-out media wall, around curves and alcove returns, up a staircase, around a kitchen island or onto furniture. Light also passes through it, which is what lets us backlight it. You get the look of solid stone with far more freedom in the design.

Can you hide the cables, including for a wall-mounted TV?

Yes. Cables for the TV, soundbar and other devices run inside the wall, with a socket or AV box behind the screen, so nothing hangs down once it is finished.

How long does a media or feature wall take?

Most walls are built on site in a few days once the design is agreed. Larger walls with several lit alcoves, a fire and full stone cladding take longer, and we give you a timescale with your quote.

Can the lighting be dimmed or change colour?

Yes. We can fit dimmable warm white, colour-changing lighting, or smart control from your phone or voice assistant. We plan it with you at the design stage.

Do you build feature walls as well as media walls?

Yes. Backlit real stone works anywhere that deserves attention: a hallway, a staircase, a bedroom headboard wall, or the front of a kitchen island or breakfast bar. We design and build feature walls the same way as our media walls, with the lighting planned in from the start.

How much does a media or feature wall cost?

Media and feature walls start from £3,000. The final price depends on the size of the wall, the stone and the lighting, and every wall is designed and priced after a free survey. Call us on 0121 751 1565 to book one.
